How the fireman eligibility checker decides, in 5 steps

1. 1

   Pick the employer and post

   Each post has its own row: CISF's Constable/Fire and DCPO, AAI's Junior Assistant (Fire Service), Delhi's Fire Operator, Odisha's Fireman and Fireman Driver, and the Air Force's civilian Fireman.

2. 2

   Check gender first

   Delhi's notice is for men only and Odisha's rule 6(2) bars women. CISF prints a male standard for Constable/Fire without saying whether women may apply, so the checker leaves that open.

3. 3

   Apply only printed relaxations

   AAI adds 5 years for SC and ST and 3 for OBC; Delhi adds the same for SC, ST and Delhi OBC. CISF and Odisha refer to Government orders or another rule without printing the years, so the checker does not add any.

4. 4

   Compare each measurement

   Height, chest (normal and expanded) and weight are checked against the figure for your gender and category, less 3 cm (AAI) or 5 cm (Delhi) with a hilly-area certificate, or 2.5 cm for Scheduled Tribes in the Air Force.

   Read what is left

   Vision, language, domicile and medical conditions are listed under the answer but not tested. A single failed limit makes the answer not eligible.

Which fireman post your education opens

Education is the first filter. Each line names the posts whose printed minimum it meets.

1. IfYou passed the 10th (Matriculation)

   Delhi's Fire Operator (with a heavy licence), the Air Force's civilian Fireman (with fire-fighting training) and CISF's Constable/DCPO (with driving licences and 3 years' driving). Fireman jobs 3DSSSB Advt 04/19

2. IfYou have the 10th and a 3-year diploma in Mechanical, Automobile or Fire

3. IfYou passed the 12th in any stream

Driving licence each fireman post asks for

Four of the seven posts the checker covers need a licence; the class and its age differ.

• Heavy vehicle

  Delhi Fire Operator

  A valid licence for heavy duty vehicles, then a driving test set by the Chief Fire Officer. 3DSSSB Advt 04/19

• Heavy, medium or light

  AAI Junior Assistant (Fire Service)

  Heavy; or medium held 1 year; or light held 2 years before the advertisement. The last two must get a heavy licence within a year of joining. 2AAI NR 01/2025

• Heavy, 1 year

  Odisha Fireman Driver

  A heavy motor vehicle licence held at least 1 year before the advertisement, not counting the learning period. 4Odisha Group C rules

• Heavy and 3 years

  CISF Constable/DCPO

  Heavy or transport vehicle, light vehicle and motorcycle-with-gear licences, and 3 years of driving. 1CISF recruitment

AAI's hilly-area relaxation, in the notice's words

The notice adds that the chest expansion must still be 5 cm for men and that no other category gets a relaxation. The checker takes 3 cm off height and chest when you tick the hilly-area box.

Three documents print disqualifying conditions. The checker lists them but cannot test them.

4. Case 4

   An SC man of 164 cm with the +2

   Odisha Fireman.

   What applies Meets the SC height of 163 cm; a general-category man would need 168 cm. He must also show Odia and a chest of 76/81 cm. 4Odisha Group C rules

   A 20-year-old woman with the 12th

   Odisha Fireman.

   What applies Not eligible: rule 6(2) of Odisha's 2021 rules bars women from recruitment to the Fire Service, whatever the measurements. 4Odisha Group C rules

Fireman age limit and the relaxation each employer prints

The upper age differs from 23 (CISF Constable/Fire) to 30 (AAI); only AAI and Delhi print the years of relaxation in the document read.

Delhi's latest Fire Operator notice read is from 2019 and AAI's from 2025; a new notice can change the age, the cut-off date and the relaxations.
