What a fire NOC takes in practice: official numbers

Promised timelines and real ones differ. These are the states' own published figures.

The file we prepare for your building

Official lists run from 3 items to 19. These are the papers that recur, and what each answers.

  • The application on the state form or letterhead, with the owner's or architect's authorisation (MFS lists 14 rows for a provisional NOC and 6 for a final one) MFS e-fire
  • Fire drawings with every system marked, in the state's format: Kerala accepts only its A1 template since 14 July 2025 Kerala Fire and Rescue Services
  • Proof of ownership or tenancy, and the applicant's identity
  • The sanctioned building plan with height, floor areas and occupancy, which decide every threshold
  • The licensed agency's installation certificate before a final NOC: Maharashtra's current list prints 861 licensed-agency rows MFS agency list
  • For a final NOC near Pune, PMRDA's list runs to 19 items, including pump, pressure and fire door certificates PMRDA

5 reasons fire NOC files stall, and what we do about each

Most delays come from the file, not the fire service. These are the ones we check for first.

  • If Drawings in the wrong format or size

We draw to your state's template and file limits before upload, such as Kerala's A1 sheet. Kerala Fire and Rescue Services

  • If An agency whose licence has lapsed

Maharashtra accepts a Form A or B only within 3 months of an agency's licence expiring; we check the current list first. MFS Form B guidelines

  • If Building to the wrong edition of the code

We confirm in writing which code your state applies; NBC 2016 was withdrawn on 30 April 2026 and only Assam had written NBCS 2026 into its fire law by 24 October 2026. Gazette of India

  • If Renewal filed too late

We file inside your state's lead time: 6 months in Delhi, 45 days in Bihar, 1 month in Uttar Pradesh. DFS

  • If Gaps found at inspection

We walk the building against the fire drawings before the officer does, with every system tested. TGFD Fire NOC note

A certificate can lapse without anyone noticing. Some filings fall due while it is still valid.

Do

  • Renew inside your state's lead time: 6 months in Delhi and Manipur, 2 weeks in Tripura. DFS
  • File Maharashtra's Form B every January and July through one licensed agency per system group. MFS Form B guidelines

Don’t

  • Don't wait for the expiry date: in Bihar the renewal goes in 45 days before. Bihar Rules 2021
  • Don't assume Delhi's new yearly Form K has started: it is deferred to 20 May 2027. Delhi Gazette

Questions about Fire NOC consultants

What does a fire NOC consultant do?

A consultant works out which fire approvals your building needs under your state's law, prepares the fire drawings and documents, files them on the official portal, prepares the building for inspection and follows up until the certificate is issued. Flamekite also tracks your renewals.

Can a consultant guarantee my fire NOC?

No. The state fire service decides every application. A good consultant makes sure the file is complete and correct for your state's rules, which removes the most common causes of delay.

How much does a fire NOC consultant charge?

Flamekite quotes its fee in writing by building, stage and state before any work starts. The statutory fee is separate and goes to the state: Rs 10 per m² in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, nothing on Uttar Pradesh's portal.

Do you work in my state?

The free check covers all 36 states and UTs, because Flamekite reads every state's fire law. Filing and site work are arranged through licensed partners in your state.

How do I start?

Use the free fire NOC check: tell us your state, building and stage on WhatsApp, and we reply with what you need, the fee, the documents and the timeline.
