Rajasthan's firemen are recruited for the Local Self Government Department's municipal fire services by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (earlier RSMSSB), Jaipur. Its last drive, advertisement 02/2021 of 10 August 2021, offered 600 Fireman and 29 Assistant Fire Officer posts, with 19 and 2 of them for the scheduled area.
Selection is on 220 marks: a 70-mark written test, which needs 33% (28% for SC and ST) to go further, and a 150-mark physical and practical test, from a 400 m run and a 35 ft ladder to a 100 m fireman lift and SCBA drill. The Fireman final recommendation came on 23 August 2023. On 29 October 2026 Flamekite found no newer Rajasthan fireman advertisement.

Four events of 15 marks each. The top band earns 15, the bands below 10, 8 and 4, and anything slower or shorter 0.
- 400 m run: 1 min 20 s for 15 marks, 1:25 for 10, 1:30 for 8, 1:40 for 4; slower than 1:40 scores 0. RSSB notice 1184

100 m fireman lift (20 marks)
Carry a person of 50 to 60 kg over 100 m: within 1 minute for 20, up to 1:10 for 15, 1:20 for 10, 1:30 for 8. RSSB notice 1184
45 m hose drill
Couple hoses laid 15 m apart into a 45 m line; each hose is 15 m long and weighs about 12 to 13 kg. Bands run from 30 seconds to over 60. RSSB notice 1184
Protective equipment (20 marks)
Put on and use a self-contained breathing apparatus in 60 s (6), a fire suit in 30 s (6), a full or half body harness in 45 s (6), and name nozzles, branches and extinguishers (2). RSSB notice 1184
Search and rescue (15 marks)
A rescue in a smoke chamber in 60 to 90 s (5), a concrete cutter, chipping hammer or circular saw in 60 s (5), two knots in 60 s (3), an emergency carry in 30 s (2). RSSB notice 1184
